One of my favourite places

My godparents have a cottage in a place called Kustavi. It’s about 100 km from Turku. The cottage has a straight view to the sea. I like the place, because it makes me calm.

 My godparents purchased the place about thirty years ago.The original sauna house was converted in to a cottage with a small sauna. And so, because the condition of the converted cottage is not so good anymore, my godparents decided to build a brand new cottage in the ruins of the original cottage. I was working there for them last summer. I made a ditch for the electric wires, some of the thermal insulation disks to fit in the walls and I made also the fence surrounding the sun deck, with my father. So we got a little bit done, but there is still a lot of work ahead, before the new cottage is completely finished.
 I was there with my family last Midsummer day. I went fishing with my godfather, but we didn’t get anything. Still it was nice to spend some time with him. The few days eating BBQ food, swimming in the see, and spending time with my godparents, were memorable.

My English learning story

I was first introduced to English when I was almost four years old, at the Finnish American playschool. I liked it a lot, it prepared me for school.

My first experiences at primary school were quite good. I found a friend at the first day and I got to know the rest of my class in a few days. My class was quite crazy, we did some forbidden things quite often. Like once when we went to a store to get some candy or something like that.

My primary school was quite normal. My best memory from this time, is absolutely our class trip to London in the end of the last term. We spent five nice days in the capital city of Great Britain. We went to many different places. I liked everything there, especially the London Eye. 

I think that my learning has developed a lot over the years, because I have noticed that I absorb information better now that I’m older.

 I was in the English class from the start to the end of my primary school and I think that it has been the most effective thing I have done to improve my English skills.

I have relatives that live in the USA and I want to be able to speak with them and I will probably need English in my future career. I am thinking about a job in the Finnish Navy or in the -Army.

I will do quite a lot of travelling in the future, so I need to be also able to communicate with other people as well.
